GIS / PLANNING

FLR is proficient in capturing and analyzing large scale environmental and cultural information and processing that information through Geographic Information Systems. Our planning process is rooted in a problem solving approach and is guided by social indicators and ranking the ‘taxonomy of alternatives”. The geographic information database and maps generated as part of the planning process can be made publicly accessible and serve the community beyond project termination.

DESIGN
Our designers are ready to help you articulate site specific goals and our staff engineers will generate Construction Documents meeting standards and ready for the bid process.

DESIGN-BUILD
FLR construction managers and foremen are trained landscape architects fluent in design development. FlatLand foreman not only construct plans, but they are active in the design process from the beginning. This practical “end of pipe” knowledge can sometimes be missing in design-only firms. Project costs can be saved by using design-build firms because it cuts down on the need to develop exhaustive construction documents and bypasses the RFP/bid doc process. Design-build allows for “change orders” to occur internally and allow for in-field adjustments that enhance the quality of the end product without a lot of headache and additional/unforeseen costs. We will marry resources to vision and deliver value driven outcomes to our clients.

GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS

FLR has in-house graphic designers and graphic communicators that help guide the design development process. Deploying three-dimensional rendering, FLR ensures clients can intuitively engage in the ‘back and forth’ needed to lead a committee of individuals to final design solutions. In addition, our graphic designers can help analyze and render complex information and present data in the form of ‘infographics’ to help community members understand statistical data and large scale geographic information.

INTERPRETIVE SIGNAGE /
WEB DEVELOPMENT

FLR can assist with the development of marketing materials, reports, brochures, Power Point Presentations, poster boards, permanent interpretive signage, and web sites to communicate plans/designs and general educational knowledge to (a) potential funders, (b) the community at large, (c) news agencies, and (d)construction companies. Clear transparent communication to the larger community, if desired, can help aid positive attitude and gauge support for development decisions.
